Eyes on Asian Junior Championship

Danish is fully focused on his next big challenge: the 31st Asian Junior Squash Championship 2024. Starting from June 25 in Islamabad, Danish will face Leung Nok Yi of Hong Kong in his opening match of the tournament. 

It is a platform where Danish aims to showcase his talent and represent Pakistan on an international stage. His eyes are set on victory, and he is training harder than ever to make the Pakistan Squash Federation proud.

This championship is more than just a competition; it’s a pivotal moment for Danish’s budding career. Success here could elevate him into the international squash arena, showcasing his skills to a broader audience. The tournament gathers the best young talents from across Asia, giving Danish the chance to compete against and learn from some of the finest players in his age group. A Story of Dedication

Danish’s story is inspiring. Every day, he travels more than 30 kilometers from his home to the Peshawar Sports Complex and back, all alone in local transport. This showcases his commitment and love to the sport of squash. His determination is evident as he balances his rigorous training schedule with his academic responsibilities, maintaining a strong academic record.

Danish trains at the Directorate General of Sports KP Squash Academy, under the expert guidance of his coach, Tahir Iqbal Khan, a former international squash player and now a senior coach at the Directorate General of Sports KP. He introduced Danish to squash and plays a pivotal role in his development and grooming. With his modern techniques and deep knowledge of the game, he is dedicated to nurturing the next generation of squash champions in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Munawar Zaman, a former Asian Junior Champion, and significant mentor, brings his own wealth of experience and expertise to Danish’s training regimen, ensuring a well-rounded development for the young athlete.

 

Danish Sikandar is no stranger to victory, he has showcased his talent in a number of events nationwide. He is a three-time KP Junior Squash Under-13 champion.

Danish emerged victorious in the second season of the Bank of Khyber (BOK) Under-13 Squash Talent Hunt Program in 2023, hosted by the Directorate of Sports, Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. These accomplishments have solidified his reputation as a rising star in Pakistani squash.
